Context

Musk, who owns nearly a fifth of Tesla and just under half of SpaceX, told investors on 20 October that a merger would be “a good idea” but was “really up to the special committees of both companies”. The committees, formed at shareholders' request, have not agreed terms and may never do so, according to Reuters.
